I own the droid bionic and girlfriend has the htc vivid. They say in the media(phone arena, phone scoop, etc ) that the bionic is getting the upgrade for sure, ok when?!?!??! Also what about the vivid I have read that the evo 3d and a few others are but vivid isn't listed and its a new phone.....

Engadget listed the Vivid as getting ICS soon, according to HTC.

HTC has one of the best update records in the business - however - the actual date must also be coordinated with and agreed to by the carrier.

And you know how carriers are - and that's why we can't accurately predict dates on these things.

The other HTCs have had date announcements in the press, accompanied by carrier press releases - that's why you've seen general dates for the Evo 3D for example, but not the Vivid.

Early 2012 is ideal for most companies that plan on doing the upgrade.

Its safe to say that ROM developers will surely beat them though.

And sometimes you see devices get leaked trial builds when a manufacturer is testing a build with the carrier. My DX had a leaked copy of gingerbread installed and running good 3 months before it came out. Granted, there ended up being 6 or so leaked builds leading up to that point with various bug fixes, but it sated my OS update fervor :)
