At least it seems this forum is. Seems like there's a lack of excitement for anything related to it presently, as if many are pissed about how 4.3 functions, numerous battery/charging issues and samsung's lack of care mostly.

I've never had a flagship phone with a forum lacking so much activity. Is the Note 2 going the way of the dodo?

That's about the norm for flagship phones. The Note 2 came out in August 2012. People have moved on to the note 3, Nexus 4 and 5, GS 4 and now GS 5..LG G2, etc etc.....I just got mine in January and already rooted it and put Kitkat on it and it is ridiculously fast and smooth.

At least it's getting Kitkat officially. Once that happens, you'll see this forum "alive" again

And no, it's not dead. Still a fantastic phone

    Hi

My rooted note 2 running stock 4.1.2 plus Xposed framework is great. No need to shout about it. My next phone will be a note 4 or 5 ( unless a competitor brings out a good alternative )

Was not Note 2 really a flagship? I always understood the latest Galaxy S phone to be the flagship. The Note 2 is a little more niche, imo.

I guess it's the flagship "phablet". I dunno. But the Note 2 sold 3 million in the first month. It made alot of Best of the Year lists and is still a great phone/phablet.

All I can say is the newest phone at the time of release is always going to dominate forums. Then after 3-6 months the next new release will be all over the forums. Now, it's the S5's turn

Still loving my Note 2, I look at it as it's perfect and no one had any problems so there's nothing to post in the forum! ;)
Never gonna update as long as I can, still on 4.1.2 JB until I find another phone I'm interested in purchasing!!

I agree completely I'm also still on 4.1.2. Don't plan on updating either. My phone works flawlessly just the way it is.

Forum activity depends on a lot of factors. New entries into the marketplace tend to get a lot of activity. Rumors of new updates get a lot of attention, as do the updates themselves. If there is a true issue with a device or an update that tends to get a lot of attention, but frequently the issues are on a couple of devices and the vast majority never exhibit the problem.

Many moons ago in a forum far, far away, we did an impromptu study and found that the loudest most aggressive "screamers" (you know the ones, this update screwed everything up, I'll never buy another xx phone again, you hate your customers, this update screwed up the phase of the moon ...) never reposted after their original rant. We did see instances where an update did botch something up and you saw it everywhere on every forum and the carrier/manufacturer quickly replied with a patch. But, most of the time, when someone comes on with the, "OMG, my phone is unusable. This update screwed everything up, how could they release such crap?" You look in other forums and see little if any about the issue, most of the time the issue is a user issue not a device/update issue. That's why they disappear immediately after posting. Sometimes there are issues that crop up that are the result of an update, but a FDR usually fixes them, but on after the ranting begins.

All of that said, a "lul" in activitiy on a forum usually means that things are going well for a particular device. Of course, when the device is truly at the end of life, they die down also.

I would like to wait and not have the update be pushed to my phone automatically. I am on Verizon. Is there a way to prevent an automatic push?

By the way, the Note 2 forum ain't dead. I just got mine and it's a fantastic phone. It is now $50.00 at Best Buy with a new account or contract re-up. I waited a long time for the price to drop and now I'm enjoying the heck out of this phone.

Me, too! I got a nearly flawless Note 2 on Ebay at a great price.

As far as OTA updates, I am not even sure how they do it anymore. I thought they asked you and then you had to choose Download?? Not sure as I always root my devices and never take OTA updates (last time was in 2010 w/the EVO 4g on Sprint)...Also, I have never had Verizon with a smartphone so I don't know what they do.
