I personally like to use T9 when texting or using gtalk, but I like a traditional qwerty keyboard for web browsing and such.

Its such a PITA to go into the settings and constantly switch from compact to normal keyboard. Does anyone know of a keyboard on the market that has a button that will allow you to switch the style instantly?

Download Better Keyboard. It gives you the option to use both of those types of keyboards. It also lets you skin the keys. There are tons of skins for free. I think the app is around $1.99. Also, it lets you switch the keyboard type you're using by just swiping the keyboard like you do pictures.

That sounds cool but I personally just flip the phone sideways when I need a full keyboard. Is there a free trial of better kb? Wouldn't mind trying it if their compact Qwerty I'd better thanhtc stock.

You have like 24 hours to uninstall and get a refund from the market. I'd consider that a "free trial". If it's not what you want, uninstall.

Flipping it sideways works, but I don't like how the keyboard and text input screen takes up the whole screen.. I like to be able to see messages come in when I'm txting/gtalk without having to hide the keyboard..
