I'm getting flaky touch screen response, and at this point just want to do a full system restore.

Did we ever get a full update.zip for the latest official DX version? Anyone with links?

Here's a great guide that will walk you through 2 different ways to get you back to stock (sbf, and maderstcok zip):

    RoOoLeR's Guide ROOT / UNROOT / BACKUP / ROM / SBF / OVERCLOCK

If you use the maderstcok zip file, wipe data and cache before applying the zip file or you might go into bootloops on first boot up after flashing. If you don't wipe data and cache before flashing the maderstcok zip and bootloop, then pull the battery and boot into stock recovey and do a Factory Data Reset (wipe data and cache), then you will be ok.
