1. Are you ready for the Galaxy S20? Here is everything we know so far!

Is there a Twitter app that can find local tweets?

Have any of you found a Twitter app that can use the phone's GPS to find tweets from people in your geographic area? I used an app called Twitterific on the iPhone that had this feature and it was a great way to learn what's going on locally.

The closest I've come is an app called Tweetkin. It works, but has some shortcomings. For example, it doesn't allow you to click on links. It also doesn't allow you to access your regular list of people you follow on Twitter.

Yeah, but layar isnt a twitter app, its not much good for the OP, Twidroid can search for nearby tweets, its also the best twitter app and you will enjoy it.

    To the OP,

Their is a paid and free version of twidroid. I'm not sure if the free version has this feature but if it doesn't the paid one would have :)

The previous poster had likely the older version of Tweetkin as in the new one you can click on the image to get to the user profile and their tweets. You are also able to click on any links in an tweet, including the ats and the hashtags. The user profiles are displayed directly in Tweetkin (as opposed to going to the web) including their images from twitpic and map of their location. You can also get the map for individual tweets if the tweet is geo-coded .

Btw Tweetkin shows the high res image of the twitter users while browsing the nearby tweets.

Coming in next version is trends and widget.

Try Tweetkin, it is much better than a week ago.
