Root Is there a way to block sms for a certain number?

I am running Liberty 3 on Gingerbread and wondered is there some way in Liberty to block all sms messages for a certain number? Or is there an app or something to do this with? If so, will it bounce back and let the sender know it did not go through or will they just assume it went through?

I know GoSMS lets me add someone to blacklist. Idk the specifics of what it does though

Not sure about the specific ROM you are using, but there are a few SMS blocker apps on the market. The most popular seems to be this one: SMS Blocker. Would that do the job?

I don't remember specificly but browsing the market for sms apps one day I recall coming accross a few apps that have functions similar to what you're looking for. Maybe there is an app that can do what you want it to. Can't hurt to look right?

You can also have Verizon block numbers.

i will say though that if the user sending them is on VZW...they may not get a message back saying you blocked their text...but im going to assume they will be able to tell that the message was not "delivered" to you...

From what I uderstand, cellphone numbers are private and are not listed in any directory. So knowing that, you will have to assume VZW and other carriers are selling your number to advertisers for profit.

And IF they are selling their customers numbers then I would imagine it is a clear case of invation of privacy and with enough complaints, and I meen TONS of complaints, they will have to stop this practice AND give you a new number on their dime.

Of course we are talking about a multi billion dollar company here so good luck with all that....lol

log into your acct on VZW i think you can block up to 5 numbers for free.

if its the stupid automated advertising texts just reply back with STOP that usually works.

does verizon block sms messages as well? i was under the impression they blocked phone calls.


it would make sense though, a blocked number is a blocked number. but i have heard it only blocks it for a month...

i had to block a number from some kind of tech agency wanting my social, for some kind of prize fund (knowing a scam is so apparent these days)

I went to that link and checked it out Dark. Did you d/l the apk the develeper made? If anyone else is interested here is the link for the download,

But now I would like to learn more about what I just did. Where is this blacklist maintained? How can I view the numbers on it? There doesn't seem to be any settings for it within the other phone settings.

Hey, thanks! I guess I overlooked that when trying to find it. There is even a wildcards listing there to block, for example, all calls from a specific area code. Sweet!

I also just found out that Time Warner Cable has this on their digital home phone service........
