On my Droidx I somehow disabled the power button, so I woke my screen by pushing home. I have upgraded to a razr maxx, but cannot find a app that will do the same thing. I am hoping I someone knows of one that works on razr maxx. Thanks!

You won't be able to do it with any of the front buttons, since they are only sensative when the phone is awake and the screen is on. You can however set up the phone to use the volume buttons. I believe Widget Locker can do that. There is a lengthy discussion on using the volume keys here
