I use a couple of free app's from the Market that "help" my GPS lock quicker and more accurately.

They are... "GPS Status" and "GPS Test".

Hope this helps. :D

My bad! :(

There is no way to boost your 3G signal if it's not there in the first place, that I know off.
However, bearing in mind your battery saver post, you could try the following...

Go to phone dial and enter *#*#4636#*#* this should take you into the "Testing" menu. Select Phone information and scroll down to "Set preferred network type" menu which will probably be pre-set to WCDMA preferred. From the drop down menu, select "GSM auto (PRL)". This will stop your phone constantly searching for 3G when there is none (or very, very, weak) and help save your battery being consumed by the constant scanning.

Hope this helps. :D

The only thing you can buy to boost 3G signal are external boosters that you locate in your house. These come in various formats and prices giving various degrees of success (quality not always related to cost).

Would this completely disallow 3G? If the 3g signal increased or you moved around to a better signal area would 3g come through? Sounds like what I may need if it would act like a low signal filter. Thanks.

Actually, what he said won't work with the Optimus V, because we use CDMA.

Instead, get int the testing menu like he told you, scroll down and it will be set to CDMA auto (PRL). Pull down the menu and check "CDMA only" which will force it to 1g, then re-check CDMA auto (PRL) and it will go back to 3g.

There is some bug in the Optimus V ( not sure if it is there in other phones) and toggling this *does* imprive the "time without a signal."

You will have to toggle each time you boot the phone up. It should help with battery life, but it won't improve the signal--the only thing that will improve thatbis a closer tower.

Where I am I only have 1-maybe two-bars at home, but I can still use it. But Wifi at home is defi itely better.

No. An app can't improve your reception or coverage. This is why you always select your carrier first based on coverage where you need it.

GPS Status does not help your GPS lock quicker. If your receiver is having problems it does have tools that you can use to clear your aGPS data. However, the app does not affect GPS performance.
