Is there anyway to transfer music from Google play to native music app?

There was apparently an app two years back that allowed for this from previous thread suggestions but alas that is no more. Kinda annoying all these clients forcing you to use them and only them for content that is hardly exclusive.

For music that I have purchased on Google, I download it locally to my desktop then copy it to my phone and tablet. This allows me to listen to whatever I own, at any point in time and not have to consume data to do so.

Are you talking about the paid monthly service that allows you to stream music? Because you don't own a copy of those songs, you are paying to use their service. There's probably a reason the app isn't available anymore. With all the copyright laws, you're probably not allowed to take that music wherever you'd like. There are many other streaming services out there if you don't want to use play music.

If you purchase a cd from Google Play or anywhere else, you can listen to it in any player you'd like.
