Hi folks. I don't understand mobile CPUs all that well so I'm debating on whether or not to go out and grab this phone to replace my LG Nitro HD running CM9 ICS or not. I guess my LG has 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 vs the 1.5-GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 in the One X. I'm guessing these are not the same chip? Anyway, speed is a big factor for me. If someone could quickly educate me on the 2 I'd appreciate it. Thanks.!

The short version is that your Nitro is using an S3.

Updates to the S4 include next generation cpu cores, much faster, next generation gpu, much faster, built on the smaller 28 nm manufacturing process, so it's going to run considerably faster with up to a 40% power savings compared to the S3.

The S numbers refer to classes by Qualcomm. The APQ8060 is basically intended more for tablets as an application processor. The S4 used here is the MSM8960, so it also includes the cellular radio modems as well as the other goodies.

So in short the One X is probably much faster. Thanks for the response. Appreciated. I may head to the ATT store tomorrow to check it out. Any opinions about the X?

    Only good ones. :)

I'm waiting for the Sprint variant of it, the Evo 4G LTE.

Like you, I'm presently using a phone powered by an S3. ;)
