We originally launched iGoogle in 2005 before anyone could fully imagine the ways that today's web and mobile apps would put personalized, real-time information at your fingertips. By Google From What's happening to iGoogle? - Web Search Help

Well, the iPod came out in 2001 and the iMac came out in 1998 IIRC. If I'm right, then the "I"wouldn't belong to Google.

"i" doesn't belong to anybody. Heck, in 1977 the Alan Parsons Project put out an album iRobot. Back in the '90s during the dot-com boom, it was "e" everything. No one company was associated with it because everybody was doing it. We have xBox, zReader, etc. ... it's just the naming convention that Apple is recognized for since the iPod took off.
