Is this why there is no Skype Video for the TB?

Looks like Verizon has built their own Video Chat app

What does this mean? I'll bet you a box of donuts that Verizon will charge a fee to use their Video chat app and never officially support Skype or any other video chat app. (Yes I know Rooting, side load, etc) I'm talking about "officially Supporting"

It means you'll have the ability to video chat with other Verizon users in your phone book. I'm wondering if this going to be free or some additional service. However, I see it as potentially limiting. I suspect it will only be good for Verizon-to-Verizon phones which means it's of limited use for many of us.

For now I'll stick to Yahoo Messenger. It has a PC client so I can actually use it to video chat with the people I want to chat with - and none of them have smartphones to make use of any other client. So far, initial testing is ok.

Interesting. If it's free VZW to VZW video chat I'll use it. I won't pay more. I'm tired of my phone bill going up!

I certainly hope not. Would be pretty worthless if it was just verizon-verizon video calling.

I think the latter is a pretty safe assumption. But my guess is that this app in development is not ready for prime time yet and seems to be part of their more comprehensive VoLTE roll-out.

With microsoft owning skype, I wonder if verizon is getting any help/support to bring it to the Tbolt?

Maybe that's why verizon is trying to cook up their own.
