Help Is unlocking of the SIM required?

Hi, fellow Android users!
This is my first post on the forums, and I would like to know if it's required that you unlock your SIM card to flash the I570EXXJG2 firmware, to a Samsung Galaxy Spica (GT-i5700)?

that's the normal lock, under Settings > Local Configurations / Security (scroll until you find it there)
