is it possible to change the settings on the ascend so that you can connect to the internet from a laptop via the phone?
Help is wifi hub possible?

no but you can root your phone using z4root and download the free app "wifi tether for root users" from market. be warned you will be on 1x speeds if you have metropcs.

no problem. one more thing, if you don't like the battery drain and heating up associated with running wifi and data at full power to tether you can also try usb tethering i use easytether(pro) but i'm sure there is a free one out there that works just as well.

do you know if there are any a2sd apps available for ascend version 2.1 phones?

ll the a2sd that i know of and seen require 2.2 and up, but you can try icarus, its based off 2.1 and have a2sd, and cm6 is 2.2 and cm7 is 2.3, and a2sd is on there.

There is an app called "link to sd" that works on 2.1 stock rooted, you will have to partition the sd card first. Does the same thing as app2sd.
