I'm currently running Cognition and was running 2.1 (non-root, non-hacked). Both roms are showing this issue.

I have a folder on my external sd which has about 30 songs in it (a combination of flac's and mp3's). When I look for it on my Captivate I can see it by looking at "my files". I can also play any of the songs one-by-one, no problem.

However, when I try to use the Samsung music player OR Winamp to view the folder it only shows TWO songs (on Cognition, on 2.1 it shows about 10).

I googled around and there have been indications that the media scanner was the issue so I installed a media scanner widget to rescan/remount the card.

    That didn't work.

I can't seem to make a determination why these TWO songs out of about THIRTY seem to appear but none others do. They don't seem to be different than the rest. I have looked at the id3 tags and they are very similar to songs that don't show up including encoder type, bitrate, other info.

    Any thoughts?

I've checked for the usual suspects- whitespace, corrupt tags, etc.
