had the hero for 3 weeks now, did the upgrade, and since then i have had two major incidents of having a paper weight produced by htc that has lasted for hours on end... few days ago out of no where my phone froze up, so i rebooted it, got past the lock screen, and then force close everywhere, no network, useless paperweight...nothing would open, i rebooted it multiple times, took out the battery, then started to delete programs and proceeded to reboot and it finally worked again....today, same thing happens, i have much more memory then where it was before (at a little over 60 mb at the moment), tried to delete programs that may have caused it, still no success and sprint has no idea wtf it is...ironic it happens after the update a few days ago...any ideas what i can do

So you called Sprint and they did not recommend a hard reset? I would recommend you wipe out and start again. Backup EVERYTHING first. 60MB is all you have left?
You must realize that most, but not all "freeware" or "paid for" applications work as intended. You always take a risk when installing on a PC or smartphone. Go slow and test each thoroughly.
