1. Are you ready for the Galaxy S20? Here is everything we know so far!

It seems the home cradle is not included?

    Hi

Just saw some unboxing photos of the Galaxy S which indeed looked really nice. Then I just wondered, where was the so called home cradle that is shown in the fancy promotion video on both the galaxy S site and at Samsungs presentations?

Is it an accessory which you have to buy after ?

It could also be a regional thing, some regions might include it with the package but so far its not included in Singapore.

Can you link us to the video you saw?

Funnily enough I asked Chris Love of Clove on Friday who is speaking with the Samsung Production Manager on Monday to ask him this question.

As soon as I receive an answer I'll post it here. :)

Cheers again for this because i am also interested in getting one of these if its not overpriced, I wonder if Clove might sell these as well ? Because i don't think its gonna be included.

Just received a reply from Clove....

Well the Product Manager came to Clove and demonstrated an i9000 for the magazine publication Smartphone Essentials.

Unfortunately it was an unboxed machine and the manager could not at that time deny nor confirm if the Desk Stand was in the UK boxed contents.

They will try to obtain the information but it may end up with finding out when supplies of the phone reach Clove 'hopefully' still due W/C 14 June.

I think the cradle is a separate purchase if the Galaxy S will sell that good.

    Yes, you are correct.
Just got off the telephone with Clove.
It's definitely not being supplied with the phone.

No news either when Samsung are making it available.

I would have been very surprised if they shipped the phone with a cradle like that. I haven't seen many models shipped with cradles in all the years I've used mobile phones.

It also wouldn't have been that good since everything you get, you pay for. The more things they put in the box, the more you have to pay for instead of having the choice if you want it or not. Of course you might have to pay a bit more for the cradle itself if it's stand alone but you get the choice to decide if you want it or not.

Thats just the game. Why give you what they can sell you especially if they can sell it to you for 50 bucks and you WILL BUY IT!

    Just business.

Not too good, I'm afraid. The only accessory so far we have is Martin Felds screen protector for the Galaxy. Other than that, zilch!

Hmm, i notice that no one had any mentioned about Bluetooth 3.0 over here. If that's the case, it looks like Bluetooth 2.0 should suffice in the phone equipment.

    Thanks Goondu.
Can I ask if you can keep us informed if anything further develops and any other news that may be important to us who have yet to see the phone, let alone have one. :)

Sure. For one, the battery that we have in the Galaxy S has a label G7, while the one which GSMArena had used for their video test is G9. Part no. I checked for both is the same, and the manufacturing date for mine is May2010 while the one showed over @ GSMArena had the date in April2010.

This leads me to wonder if the battery given to GSMArena might be rigged.... :(

Yes, I too noticed this information on the hardwarezone.com Galaxy S topic.
As such I created a topic over on xda-devs.
I know you are a member also over there. Can I ask if you can post your information in the topic which can be found here.

    Sure, I can. :)

Update: Done, with all the relevant information posted. Middle eastern countries are also launching the i9000.

P/S: I took another look at the battery information and it seems that the model no. is slightly different too. Go over to xda developers regarding the information.

    Latest information.

Samsung published the latest firmware i9000DXJF4, and I updated it via Samsung Kies. The update will wipe off any applications you have installed from the android market, call history, contacts (stored in phones), sms, etc...

As to what the improvement, someone over at the hardwarezone mentioned response is a bit better and smoother. Personally, I cannot feel the difference, probably I'm a thick-skinned fella.

I'm not sure if there is any release history about the firmware, but certainly it wouldn't harm if Samsung was to release one.

im getting really frustrated with the USB connection on this phone... not once has it connected as Mass Storage or via Kies :(
Ive installed the latest Kies, but it will not read my phone...
i have a feeling i will snap the back cover soon, with the amount of times i have to pull out the micro sd, just to transfer files...

can any one help on this...thanks

Did you try turning on USB Debugging?
You can find it at ~ ( Settings -> Applications - > Development -> USB debugging), connect to PC with Kies.

It should then detect as a mass storage, when you disconnect from the PC, disable the USB Debugging on phone.
