Maybe you and me both?
Feel free to remove my post if it saves your pride
It's been reported that Facebook, Twitter, and quite a few apps that require certain screen resolution are filtered by Market, since it deems this device incompatible.
Yeah all Dolphin browsers, vlingo, facebook, there are tons. I'm having to make do with firefox browser D:
I had decided not to install this because I was going to wait for a more fixed version... now I'm drinking... installed novacom... have read all day all the problems people have had with install and now know what to do and not what to do... so the question I pose... is it worth it for me to install this alpha?
If you follow instructions there is really no risk.
So yeah it's a bit buggy, but the sense of joy I got at seeing android on this sucker was well worth it to me.
My roommate is waiting though, so I guess it just depends on whether the shear act of installing android will make you happy like it did me haha
Hmmm... being a flash-a-holic its very tempting... I will hold off tonight... sober up tomorrow and reevaluate my thought process in the morning...
SD, you've handled worse.
Geez, now I'm thirsty.
Off topic... Trying out a new drink... (usually a Miller Lite guy after a long work week) ( I work 4 10 hr shifts so Thursday is my Friday) Jeremiah Weed - Roadhouse Tea... its pretty good, if you like sweet tea... but I might switch back to my Miller Lite...
And colchiro... the worst I've probably handled was on vacation, doing my first SBF via an open wifi hotspot for downloads and it continually failing during "Switching to bypass"... now I know that it was that I didn't have the right version of RSDLite, then I thought I had bricked my 1 month old Droid X... because I wanted FROYO!!!
Froyo? I prefer to move forward, not backward...
I know XP is faster than Win7, but I'll still take Win7 if the HW can handle it.
Jumped in feet first, just as easy as flashing roms if you follow directions well. No problems at all, I think this is well beyond Alpha.
Also if folks are unsure about whether they have novacom or not, or want to make sure this is where I got my copy at without getting all the extra stuff.
New Novacom Driver Installer!!! - PreCentral Forums
Turns out I already had it from WebOS Quickinstall but I removed that and installed this so it would be in a traditional folder that was easy to find.
Did you guys know it was Christmas already?! I had no idea.
CM installed and running AWESOME. I've had a couple of bugs, but nothing that hasn't already been documented elsewhere (reboot to webOS button doesn't work but who cares webOS is crap anyway; a couple of apps including Facebook aren't showing up in market; camera is buggy). I am SO PLEASED.
Thank you SO MUCH CMteam!! <3 I am eternally grateful!
I'm mostly a noob to this kind of thing (familiar with rooting/flashing, have no clue about the back end of things), and I had absolutely ZERO problems. Seriously, the hardest part of this install was figuring out where my novacom.exe file was, because for some reason it didn't show up in a system search. XD Once I finally got that worked out, everything was SMOOTH SAILING. No harder than a ROM flash (and in fact easier than some!).
EDIT: Ack, double post, sorry. D: I got excited...
Anybody tried/got YouTube yet? When I play videos, the video flashes and is scrambled like the old cable channels that you shouldn't be watching lol
Anyone else have any issues with charging? It seems tto not want to charge when plugged into the original HP wall unit. Also it seems to only want to turn on from sleep when it feels like it.
YouTube flat out wont work for me. Not in Opera at least. I haven't tried the app yet.
Just fyi, if you want dolphin mini browser you can get that from the Amazon app store, also I'm using Firefox nightly and its good too.
I LOVE Jeremiah Weed! Ridiculously hard to get hold of over here though, only ever found one place that sells it.
So what browser do we recommend? Don't really want to go down the nightly route and I don't have access to the Amazon App Store ...
Am I really the only person here from the UK?
Well I did it... and this is much much much more than an alpha... loving it.
Figured out something... if you want your favorite app but can't find it on the market on your Touchpad... download it in market on your phone... backup with tibu... put the backup on your Touchpad... and then use tibu to restore it on your Touchpad... works great... running facebook and twitter market apps.
P.S. posting this from my Touchpad!!!
This may be a dumb question, but how do I transfer the backup from my phone to touchpad? I was thinking I could share the app from my phone through email but I've forgotten how.
This happens sporadically for me. About 80% of the time I have no issue, 20% of the time it happens.
Charging/power issues are common with the alpha, as are wifi problems, but nothing that makes it unusable.
@MongooseGA When you do a backup it goes onto your SD card, just copy the folder or files over to your "sd card" on your touchpad
