Man i wish i would get a text letting me know when i was getting the froyo update on us cellular! Thats cool though glad to see its finally rolling out to some phones, maybe it wont be to much longer...... I cant take the waiting anymore because i know gingerbread is right around the corner along with ice cream so whats the point of froyo this late in the game. LOl. Everyone says "well if you dont want to wait then root your phone and put a rom on it!" Well besides the fact that i dont really want to go that rout there are not really any options for a desire with the radio it has and it being a CDMA phone. All the roms are not really that great for day to day use. I even called uscc at the start of the month and they told me october and i called again today to see what the status was and now they wont tell me anything. Kinda Stupid oh well here is sit. Any word from anyone would be awesome!

froyo is awesome, so I don't see what the huge rush is to get anything newer.

and my wife won't give up her G1, so it would be nice if she could have something a little better than 1.6... but to tell you the truth, she doesn't even care. she loves what she can do with the phone, and even seeing my G2 hasn't changed her mind.

Im not looking for anything newer and i dont really think that gingerbread is going to be as good of a update as froyo. Im just saying why would a high end phone be behind in updates. I agree Froyo looks awesome and i cant wait to get it. .:Smoky:. The g2 does look sweet as hell! I have seen some cool videos on youtube about it being overclocked to 1.42 GHz, running sick linpack scores, and just crusing everything in quadrant. (rooted and overclocked that is) Sweet phone my friend!

I got ya! Yeah im running a stock phone right now too. Not sure if i want to root yet. Only thing i would really like about root permissions is being able to run SetCpu and run some profiles and get even better battery life but other than that im not really to worried about it. Once froyo comes i will be happy

If you're this desperate for 2.2, why not just root and call it a day?

Dont really want to root because its a new phone and i dont want to mess up the warranty. I dont know i seen something about samsung sending out the froyo update on november 11 or something for the galaxy s. Well now that uscc has a galaxy s phone maybe they will update everything.

lol well I have had one form or another of Froyo on my Nexus One since about last June...I guess maybe its taking them longer than they expected to cripple it up just the way they want. You know, patching holes so features can't get put back in and making sure the app to buy ring tones from them only works.. haha
Sry guys, I feel your pain...

This update is taking entirely too long to happen. I'm not very hopeful for a good outcome either. My guess is that the US Cellular version of froyo will not allow tethering without paying US Cellular for the service, and my guess is it won't allow us to remove the apps that came with the phone that we have been waiting patiently to trash. And about the time they finally get this out it will be time for Gingerbred. Total BS.

I agree that it is total BS. I know that they are going to take everything out of it. Im not planing on teathering or anything like that cuz i know that will be gone. Im really looking forward to apps2sd though. The gingerbread sdk is already out so there goes froyo down the tube! December 16 the nexus s will be out with an offical fully working stable build of 2.3 already installed. Looks like there is not really good option for us beside rooting. Once i hit my on year mark and my warenty is gone i will be rooting for sure and running cyanogenmod. By that time he will have a sick build of 2.3

Don't worry guys, you'll get an out dated version of android by the time your phones are at the end of their shelf life!

Christmas and the new year are just around the corner and still no news on the US Cellular Froyo update. This is madness!!!! I still had some money left on my $20 in free apps but I won't get to use it because I have no space left on my phone to put the apps. This needs to happen ASAP. Come on US Cellular people. Make it so.
