Unfortunately its the children that play stupid video games that are ruining the performance of todays smart phones. Current smart phones are hindered by the cpu as can be demoed via their web browsing experience. GPUs make up much of the silicon that goes into SOC like snapdragon, tegra2, and others. Since most smart phone users dont play stupid 3D video games I pray they refrain from allocating silicon to the GPU in future SOC and use it all for CPU performance improvements.

I'm sure a lot of people would want an insanely laggy phone huh?

GPU's are what drives your phone display. The more resolution, the more that GPU has to work. These screens are pretty high resolution for their size.

    Take a chill pill brah.

The smartphones nowadays have such good performance because they have to run these games.

Just like games pushed PC performance.

The 2 biggest things that push innovation are military and video games. Without video games requiring so much processing power our phones would not be advancing as quickly as they are! Is anything on your phone really being slowed down because it can handle games that you choose not to play??

To say that a smartphone can be seen to be slow by it's performance while browsing is just simply dumb.

The browsing speed depends much more on the speed of the phones connectivity hardware than it does the cpu. When browsing all the cpu had to do is maintain data thats downloaded/uploaded by the phones connectivity hardware.

It's the same in a pc, and a smartphone is just a mini pc. Do you think a P3 800mhz pc with gbit ethernet and a 50mbit internet connection is going to download and process data any slower than a pc with 3ghz quad core cpu on the same ethernet and internet connection? granted there are variables like hdd read write rate and such, but the principle is the same.

Data downloads at x rate, and at x rate only needs a cpu of a minimum x speed combined with hdd of x performance to process downloaded data.

Once your above that base threshold higher specs of hardware only make any difference according to the speed of the slowest component in the process.

Guys - if anyone disagrees, please PM me - but I'm just not seeing the point to this thread or seeing it have a life without leading to bad feelings.
