I've been wondering about "screen on time" for a long time

I've flashed multiple roms, kernels and done many a tweaks but my screen on time has never gone beyond 2 hours max. Are there ways to increase screen on time?

I've come to concluded that some models of the phone simply have "better hardware" or a higher QC standard than others.

Not much you can do to increase screen on time. The screen is by far the biggest power draw on the phone. The only thing you can do to increase that time is decrease screen brightness. I did a fairly extensive study on this for the Galaxy Nexus.

The darker the overall screen, the less the drain compared to light backgrounds, so try wherever possible to use dark backgrounds (eg on homescreens and within apps that allow colours to be configured)

^ that too. Forgot to mention that. Dark backgrounds, if apps have night mode (black background with white text) use it. Several of them do, you'll find it somewhere in the settings menu. Even still, with the low brightness and dark backgrounds, don't expect huge gains. Maybe 15 minutes.
