So my contract expired EOF March but i held off for the One range, then for the SGS3 to either be better or reduce the One range.

I had a quick hold/play of both and opted for the One X. Just more "me" i felt.

    Managed to get 300m, 500t, 0800 & VM free, U/L Data, 750MB D/L and 1 booster (Free Landlines) for

Got my one x on Friday. Must admit to being a bit underwhelmed. It doesn't feel that much quicker than my desire. Was starting to wonder if I shouldn't have gone for the s3 instead.

However, the more I use it, the better it looks and feels. I think the real issue is I know what to expect from android now. When I got the desire I didn't, so the whole experience was a shock and surprise. Was looking for the same feeling with the one x, but didn't get it. It is just a nice phone!

Really loving the screen now - like the way you can run your finger around the smooth edge of glass at the side of the screen.

Was going to keep it stock for a while, but already starting to eye up xda.

    I'm loving the s3. It's so fast.

I didn't like touchwiz so went for go launcher. I'm not going to customise as much as yge desire as I'm used to android now, but I am definition very pleaded with it

ive just upgraded to one x and love it. Rooted it straight away and custom rom and it's like lightning. I think coos lick is right in saying it seems boring as your used to android now. I was the same in that, when you first start tinkering with the desire it's amazing how far you can go with it in terms of customization etc, but now you've been there and done it the one x doesn't seem the same. just root it and you'll soon be playing again.

I'm expecting this reaction when I get my next android phone... Probably the oneX too! Just not sure if I should have a look at the SG3?! I just get my head around taking a samsung over the HTC and I don't know why!?

I can relate to that. I was gonna wait for the sg3 as i like to have something different every time. I've never had a samsung or the one by apple that shall remain nameless.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there!

I'm also looking on here and xda. Just keeping an eye on what's happening and new.

Found this awesome sight with so many gorgeous screen designs. So i think i'll have a little play next week. :D

Why are you even posting this in the desire forum, it has nothing to do with the desire. The One X has the same problems as the desire, absolutely appaling audio recording quality so if you've upgraded to a quite frankly rubbish contract deal for that then more fool you. Android is android, no matter what phone you have. Instead of upgrading my desire I brought a digital camera, best thing I ever did.

Seriously can the mods either merge or get rid of all these "see you later" threads as nobody really cares how happy people are with their new phones, it's not as if we know you personally and feel oblidged to congratulate you on your new purchase.

Look at the post count of the person you are criticising, and also the date of the last post. I think you are forgetting that this is a community - and long time members are interested what other long time members are choosing for their next device. Its called sharing information - exactly what this forum should be about.

    This.

I'm sticking with the Desire but it is good to hear the views of people who have jumped ship (shall we call them "Splitters" ? ::) ). Especially people who've shown themselves on this board to be folks whose views you can trust (there do seem to be a larger proportion on here than I'd expect on an internet forum...)

I think this thread is perfectly valid. There are many users who are now coming to the end of a 2 year contract on their Desire's and sharing their thought's/experiences and reasons for choosing the phone they have moved on to helps others now looking to upgrade.

The Desire was crippled from the outset with it's dire internal memory issues so rooting and custom roms were essential to this phone. There are many people on this forum who have devoted many, many hours to helping people like myself out and it is nice to be able to thank them and let them know what you have purchased so they know what forums you'll have moved on to.

@leerees - Point taken about this being a Desire thread, but as SUroot says, it's also a community.

Quite! Because this is a community which is very welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful I'm taking everything the say regarding updates into consideration when my time comes.
I think in a way its a shame this group is thinning out and going out onto different phones, but needs must!

I too found this thread interesting, as I'm ready to start thinking about my next phone (even though I have one year left on my three year contract). So it's good to know what people coming from the same place are thinking. If I had to go now I'd likely get the One X, but then again there's likely to be something even better (maybe with more memory) in a few months.

Bingo. I'm a new member and my contract is now up on my Desire, so I'm debating what to get next. I've found several posts in this threat helpful.
    Thank you!

Benchmark apps mean nothing. It takes 1 good score from you and compares it against some random average for a device, which for the s3 includes s4 krait devices. I could return to stock and show my device above the one x quite easily.... because all the bad one x scores will be included too.

If anyone is unsure which to get, go down the shops and try them both out and go for the one you like best

Solid advice here. Benchmark results are cheated so often that there is no true baseline.

They are pretty much useless. All that matters is that you are happy with your devices performance

ok point taken, I misunderstood the thread. As for upgrades, I opted for the samsung galaxy s2, I was going to get the s3 but decided against it as it's just too big. Managed to get mine for
