I just downloaded and installed the Android SDK on my laptop. I used the tutorial at SoftPedia (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Run-Android-Applications-on-Ubuntu-115152.shtml) to get me started.

I now have an emulator up and running and the SDK. However, I get Kanji (Japanese) characters whenever I type. I looked online and found one post here which stated nothing as an answer and one post here: Why is my Android emulator keyboard in Japanese character mode? - Stack Overflow However, I still get this.

Any ideas? I'd love to start developing in Android.

I try and de-select the Japanese support. I also have the input set to US English.

I had the same problem here, but it went back to English when I unchecked the options in the Language and keyboard settings like you showed here.
