It's still a bit of a mess, Can't answer calls. I'm going for the factory reset.
Can't tell you at the moment, the phone rang and now won't stop ringing!
Sorry, that was meant for Shaunuk!
I'll never buy another phone where you can't take the battery out!
I am just about to throw it against the wall!
I think you need to put it down nicely and go for a walk lol It's cold outside as your in the UK so shouldn't take long to clear your head of these phone breaking thoughts...
STILL ringing, even though I've managed to switch it to Airplane Mode.
This is mental.
Ha, ha. If only I didn't use it for business ...
I guess I'll just wait for the battery to go flat (with fingers in ears)!
Hold the power button down for 10 seconds, that simulates a battery pull and works in all circumstances.
As EarlyMon has suggested in the other thread, I think you're best backing up what you can, then going for a factory reset.
That's what I thought, but NOTHING stops it! Only 4% battery left, thank God!
What was your software version before you updated? Did it have 707 in it before? UK should be x.xx.401.x
That's unbranded software, but meant for Asia.
Dunno, I can only remember it being recently updated to 4.0.4.
It could very well be that the phone has been imported from Asia....
Actually, it WAS a UK supplied SIM-free phone from my usual supplier, but I cracked the screen after only 6 days.
It went to M-Blue for repairs (not recommended) and came back with an Asian keyboard (and more, obviously, that I did not notice) so I guess that clears up why I got JB before you guys get the chance for the OTA.
The factory reset worked fine, have been rebuilding the thing ever since. Thanks for all your help!!!
JB seems smooth. Haven't tried out any of the additional features yet, but enhancements to the camera operation appear useful.
Where will I find the CID?
Download an app called CID Getter from Play to find out your CID.
Did this company say they replaced or repaired the phone? I'd be a bit miffed if I got a phone with Asian software returned.
Anyway, glad the factory reset sorted it.
Oh, and good ol' Google seemed to have fully backed up most of my settings and contacts, so at least I was halfway to getting things back to normal, as a starting point. (They may keep all my shopping data, after all)!
M-Blue was pretty much a disaster. After being fobbed off with many excuses for late delivery (they claimed a 5-day service) I actually went to their place in Essex to collect it. They hadn't done anything when I got there, but managed to fix it up with a new screen (so they said) within an hour. Didn't discover the Asian thing until I got home and didn't want to waste anymore time, phone calls, emails etc on them. If you Google them, you'll find plenty of others with the same experience. Their HQ was very tatty, but had some nice cars with personal plates outside! Thanks for the CID info.
Note for everyone, CID Getter doesn't work with JB, yet!
Errr, yes it does, sorry, it just looks v weird!
My CID is HTC_044 (UK?)
Mmm that would be Asia/South East Asia, further confirming you got back an Asian handset (or loaded with Asian firmware).
Where is this damn UK update? *shakes fist at sky*
