Jbird here...wanting a Fascinate, looking for validation

I have been eyeing the Samsung Fascinate for a a couple of weeks now, reading reviews and watching video. I really like the way it looks. I have not yet made the leap to smartphones so this will be my first. My biggest concerns are: 1. Is this a good "starter" phone? 2. I have a macbook pro and and I'm concerned about compatability and syncing. 3. Is this whole Bing controversy really that big of a deal?

2. You should be - Kies is a nightmare AND Windows only
3. no big deal - Galaxy S original doesnt even have search button
