    Hi,

As you may have seen from some other threads amout themes etc.. JC4 and JC5 will not work with Glaxo 1.61 or work with the 1.6 Themes.

In each and every combination I have tried it comes down to the Launcher.apk

If you replace this with any other version, and I have tried a few. Or amend the current one by too much using Metamorph, then the phone will not work.

What you get after the Samsung screen on boot, is a blank screen. If you try to unlock the phone, you just get the word Samsung apear. (Bottom half at top of screen, whole word in the middle and top half at the bottom.)

Has anybody managed to switch the Launcher.apk on these firmwares? If so what did you have to do different.

    Thanks

    James

I would like to know this also. Tried to replace Launcher.apk with AdvancedLauncher but always got stuck on Samsung logo. I eneded up keeping the Launcher.apk and installed AdvancedLauncher as a separate application.

You need to remove the cert for the apk from one of the files used by the system... it should be in /data/system/packages.xml

Easiest to remove the whole packages.xml and let the system rebuild it when it starts up.

You might need root access to remove the xml file

    Pegasus,
Thanks for the info. It may work on a clean build but alas when I tried removing the xml file or just removing the section relating to Launcher.apk. The phone went a bit screwy (Technical term.) That was without changing the Launcher.apk.

I may try wipe/ odin/ remove xml /replace launcher.apk when I have more time. But as were already on to JC6 I will probably have a different set of problems soon anyway. ;)
