I havent heard a word about Jelly Bean for Bionic. Maybe it too will rise on the 3rd day, but not going to put my faith in THAT one.

Has anyone heard anything about JB?

Do we know anything about the rules of upgrading and the 100 bucks if JB is not making its way in time? I'm officially eliegable for an upgrade I think in May. Does this mean I'm able to upgrade in May and take 100 bucks off my purchase of a new device?

I do not believe JB is in the works for the BIONIC, even though the VZW Nexus has JB, most of us still on stock are waiting for the update to fix a few issues. I will see if i can find a road map of moto devices and jb updates.

As of right now, the Bionic is still scheduled to get Bionic. There are no promised dates. It is definitely not part of the $100 trade-up program, so that's another sign that it's still on the update schedule.

The $100 trade up is only for those specific devices that came out in 2011/2012 and are not getting ICS at least. You can only get the trade-up for the devices in the list.

You can look at Moto's update page anytime to see if there are any updates and see the $100 tradeup list: https://forums.motorola.com/pages/00add97d6c

The Razr and Razr Maxx are getting testing updates, so the Bionic should be one of the next ones. I'd expect it will be a month or two after the Razr update at the *earliest*. Easter? I sincerely doubt it.

Has the Droid4 gotten JB yet? i would see that one getting it before the Bionic. I would say the Bionic is probably last on the list of Moto devices to get it. Just my imo though.

Considering the Bionic is nearly identical to the original Razr's, I would expect the Bionic's to come shortly after the Razr's. Except for the AMOLED screen and the sealed cases of the Razr's, everything the Bionic has is the same which should mean that little needs to be done to the Razr version of JB to have it work on the Bionic.

I have seen posted on other sites that JB for the Droid Bionic is currently in the testing stages at Verizon (build 22 to be exact). (As of 3-15-2012).

The release (when it will be released will be JB 4.1, not 4.2.

No Soak test until Verizon approves the build (no expected date has
been announced. All this information above is reliable, so does indicate
a "possible" release is coming, just when, nobody knows. Hang in ther....it will happen.

One of my colleagues got the RAZR JB update OTA today.

Maybe it's coming soon for us too...

The original Razr/Razr Maxx or one of the newer Razrs? The original Razr's were essentially identical to the Bionic hardware wise. The only exception was the screen, so I would say we would get our JB soon if it's the original ones getting it.

One of the reasons our ICS was delayed so was because of the massive bugs the original Razr's ICS release had. Their fixed ICS came out about the same time as our ICS.

The Bionic and Razr also had different audio processing chips (the Razr's was a generation newer; I bet the drivers are identical). Those are the only two hardware differences that I can find. (see AnandTech | Motorola Droid RAZR Review - A Better Clad Bionic )

The Droid 4 used the same (though smaller) LCD display as the Bionic, so now that the D4 is done, Moto should be able to update the Bionic. The key question is how much time does Verizon have to test it? And what is the VZW priority for getting updates out?

This last part if what makes Android so frustrating. For all the Apple hate in the smartphone world, one thing can not be denied, they got it right when it came to telling the carriers that they alone will control updates and if the carrier didn't agree to it they simply didn't carry the iPhone.

I've said it before, Google needs to push back against these carriers on matters such as bloatware and allowing their OEM partners to control updates for their own phones.

Moto has officially said Q2 for us. Hope it's early Q2.

FYI for when we (the Bionics) do get the Jellybean update...

My wife just got the Jellybean update on her Motorola D4 this week. She has been having problems with a few things.

I just backed up her phone and I'm in the process of doing a Factory Data Reset and reloading apps and data.

As Thom Little and others emphasize, it is highly recommended to do this when you get the Jellybean update, best to do it right away AFTER backup up all your info.

Avoid headaches down the road by doing this.

    Yep, is usually smart.

Will you do us a favor and let us know what her battery life is like during the day once it gets reset and "settled in" so to speak compared to how it was on ICS?

Okay, my wife's D4 finally settled down after the Factory Reset. As expected, the battery life was short for a few days and settled down today and is lasting long now again.

One issue the D4 experienced was a problem with her Bluetooth. I had to keep messing with it to get it working correctly.

How is the battery life under JB now that it's settled down compared to how it was normally under ICS? Better? Worse? Same?
