The galaxy S4 runs 4.2.2. Jelly Bean so why is the status bar not blue?
    Is that Nexus only?

    ------

And now that google announced that the next nexus is the galaxy S4 would it be possible to root a carrier S4 to get the same device and updates or will google detect that I'm on a rooted carrier phone and I won't get the same Android updates as "Nexus" users?

    Thank you

The status bar is green because that is the way samsung wants it. And you wont get the updates from google on the google edition s4, you will only get updates from your carrier. It is possible there may be a port from a google edition phone, and there is probably a good chance of that happening, but you will have to root and do it through a custom recovery

Ok thanks, no biggie, I just like the blue and thought the Nexus looked cool. Got now most of the JB look with some Playstore launchers/widgets and apps.

If you use a little app called Omega StatusBar you can download themes of different colors. I don't really use it myself but I did try it out and it works okay.
