Jp5 mini can anyone answer me?

    So I was think since jp-5 is essentially a phone that runs off Android 4.2.2 can I just get a new motherboard or CPU switch it out and then download the Android operating system instead of the JPay system. I'm just now getting into writing codes and all that kind of stuff so I really have no idea! Thanks for the help.

    The JP5 Mini isn't a typical consumer mobile device, and by design meant to be used in a highly curated environment with limited functionality. Focusing on using a JP5 Mini for development education is stifling your own needs. If you're going to spend money on repairing and essentially re-engineering it into an actual, usable device, buy a typical, commercial tablet instead.

    A phone basically consists of a bunch of circuitry bonded to the motherboard, a battery, some peripherals (display, speaker, mic, etc), a bunch of antennae and a casing to hold it all together. It's not like a desktop PC where the motherboard, storage, RAM, power supply, possibly graphics card or even the sound card or network adapter might be separate, in one of these devices all of that stuff is bonded to the motherboard as a single unit, so replacing the motherboard means replacing the lot. And you'd have to replace it with one that is physically compatible with the phone (they are not standardised), whose charging circuits were compatible with your battery (big safety issue if not), and then it would need to be loaded with firmware that's compatible with your peripherals (no downloading of drivers, no BIOS to provide a minimal compatibility to let you set stuff up). Frankly it's unlikely that you could replace it with anything other than another JP-5 motherboard, and that wouldn't help you at all.

    Replacing the CPU is even less of an option: the SoC (system on a chip, of which the cpu is only one part) is bonded to the motherboard and not designed to be removed: a specialist could rework the board this way, but it would probably be cheaper to buy another phone. And it's not even the thing you want to replace: you want to replace the operating system, which resides in the storage chip rather than the SoC, so what you actually want to do is to reload the contents of that chip - which JPay have specifically worked to prevent you doing.

    In terms of modifying Android software, the important thing to know is that there is no generic Android build that can be downloaded and installed on any device. The software has to be adapted and built for the particular model of phone or tablet. For some devices there are some parts of this (the "Android ROM") that people build custom versions of ("custom ROMs"), but those are also device-specific. I don't rate your chances of finding an alternative ROM for the JP5 (this is a common question, and there doesn't seem to be an answer), and JPay have locked the device software down to prevent you replacing this anyway.

    Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply to me even tho i just now say it... I understand how phones operating systems work and how circuitry works resistors capacitors and such but i don't understand how code works or why you cant just flash in a new IMG from a phone running the same CPU chip. And in my case its a Rockchip RK3026 so for today's standards its low tech and slow. I dont know if i stated this in my original post or not but i dont care if i brick the device or if it ends up not working at all. I'm more interested in the learning factor of flashing the boot img and getting a grasp on how to use linux commands and writing code myself to build a custom o-s that i dont have to fall into the rest of the world being monitored through cell towers. I have ambitions of fathering my own little computer operating system that may or may not be used as the foundation for being able to lift the vale between other dimensions and energy all around us or hell even be able to travel far far away from your favorite chair. So if you can help me to understand how i could make my own operating system even if that means i have to get a nonprogrammed Rockchip RK3026 and put it in myself, to be able to use the motherboard of the jp5 and make it into what ever i want to use it for. I would really appreciate the knowledge rather than being told i cant do something because I Personally Will Never Give Up on Something I Want To Accomplish....[especially if someone tells me it cant be done] But anyway Thank you man and if or when you get back to me we can exchange some contact info and programming ideas. That also goes to anyone else who reads my post and wants to contribute to the future of my programming novel. attached a video of the motherboard and stated the processing chips included on it.
