    Hi!

Kind of an odd problem, but the phone and SMS/Text don't like to share the same address book!

My outgoing caller ID is blocked, for privacy reasons. The code to unblock it for a single call is *31# so I added that to some of my friends phone book entries. Then the trouble started!

Lets say Andy's number is 602-555-1212, so I edit it and it becomes *31#602-555-1212 and my caller ID is sent when I call him. SMS/Text is a different story though, it now sends text messages to 316-025-5512-12 !!

I thought of a workaround, and made the *31# version the home number and repeated it for the cell number without the *31# - call home and text the cell, logical, right? Wrong! On pulling up the list of contacts it only lists the home number in either phone or text mode!

Anyone have any suggestions as to how to fix this, short of creating a new phone book entry for each person?

Better yet, how to create a special group that will prefix the *31# to any phone that is dialled from within that group, but not to text messages?

I found an app in the app store called "Prefixer". Going by what I see you can set up rules for dialing based on certain conditions (like which contacts).

I have no idea if it will do what you want, but hey, its worth a look. It sounds like it might meet that last request of yours.

Then you should just be able to keep their normal numbers in the phone book for texting and then this app will add that prefix if they aren't an approved contact.

That's a great little app, does exactly what I needed! I was searching for a way to add the prefix in the phone book, this is outside that box!

Basically I made a group called "unblock", then created a rule for outgoing calls, if the number is in the unblock group then add the prefix. It took nearly 2 minutes to set up, thank you for the suggestion!!
