Coming from a BB curve, I am very excited to watch high quality movies on my subway commute everyday. I would like to start converting movies to MP4 tonight to have everything ready to go on Friday, but I need your help.

I know there are many posts on this subject, but none specific to the DROID. What is the best free movie converter and at what resolution to do you recommend converting to? While we are on the subject, what is the best video player for the DROID? Thanks in advance!

I use Handbrake to convert movies for my other gadgets (voyager phone, iPod touch) and I plan to use it for the Droid too. Free download at handbrake dot com. It doesn't remove copy protection, so I use DVDfab (also free) to rip DVD's to my harddrive (stripping the copyprotect), then convert with HB.
I don't remember what the resolution on the Droid screen is, so I guess It'll be a trial and error experiment at first. (unless someone else figures out good settings and posts them sooner).

I highly recommend Super Video Converter.

I think its still free and has tons of different configuration options.
