Like the title says (just how easy will it be to see the screen in direct sunlight?)

I bought a Desire a few weeks ago, and as happy as i am with the phone itself, it's hard to see the screen in direct sunlight which is a big disappointment for me.

Is it likely that i would notice a major improvement with the Galaxy?

You'll probably get a lot more answers once it's released in the US. ;)

Yeah the X10 seems to show significantly better results compared to the Galaxy S, the desire was the worse performer though but not far from samsung.

Pessimistic on the phone that im about to purchase very soon, I dont think so.. I even hate Sony mobile phones but the video clearly shows the X10 doing better than the Galaxy S. You should take a look at the video a couple of more times from start to end.

well, when you are facing fone straight (which you will be doing most of the time) they are almost equal. The author seems to agree, and he had them compared in forst hand.

The X10 looked slightly better than the Galaxy S to me too. But all phones, including the Desire, seem usable.
