Verizon replaced my phone because of me getting missed calls without any alerts... Just checked the HBOOT and is 1.49.0000 S-ON. This mean a "leak" was already installed on this phone?

if they mail the phone to you it will have all the latest versions.

If a local store has some old stock, slight chance they could have the older firmware with the older hboot. best bet is to visit your local retail store and see what kind of replacements they have. I guess you would have to be kinda covert about it and not ask alot of questions about rooting and such.

Well I just got off the phone with VZ Tech Support and they are sending me a new (refurb) eris due to poor signal and dropped call issues since 2.1. He told me that they will be shipping it with 1.5 on it and that I should not update it. So it would seem that they still have phones with the old software and they are not shipping everything with the latest updates on it.

I guess I will find out tomorrow!

really? that is good news. I may call cust service then. My Eris is suffering from the same issues that everyone reports, laggy, silent calls etc.

    thanks for the headsup.

Yes following the directions on the xda forum I linked to in this thread below. I did it on my replacement phone with hboot 1.49 s-on and it took a couple hours, mostly to install all the needed programs and files. A lot of people have not been able to get root using this method so it is hit and miss but I did it 3 times now.
