Morning! I just rooted last night. How should I go about choosing the custom ROM to install? My friend says to get BAMF because that is what he is using, but there are so many out there - why not choose a different one? I see the list of them all here:

The Thunderbolt ROM List (Updated 7/3) Happy 4th of July!
    http://androidforums.com/thunderbol...bolt-rom-list-updated-7-3-happy-4th-july.html

But it's tough to compare them all. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. How did you choose?

    Thanks for the tips!

if youre a flashoholic youll eventually try them all :D

defaintely dont run the same rom as your friend, just cause thats what hes running

read thru them all and then pick you think you might like... i just read the original posts to see what mods or tricks have been added, and then look at screenines,if available. i also skim the last few pages of each thread to see what folks are saying about the latest releases.

make a backup of your current setup and give it a try! :)

Okay. Now to make a backup, I can just use the Backup option in ClockworkMod Recovery, right? Will this back up EVERYTHING? (except for the data on my SD card)

It says that it takes a Nandroidbackup: What Is ClockworkMod Recovery And How To Use It On Android [Complete Guide]

I basically want to backup my phone now (since I didn't back it up before rooting) so that if I mess up somehow while installing a custom ROM, I can bring it back to this point without an issue.

    Thanks!

Thanks man. So after I flash my ROM to BAMF, do I have to move to mr2 or mr2/5?

Also, I am on the fence about which one I should use. On each forum you hear good and bad things about both of them. Without a ton of research, I'd probably just go with 2.5.

Also, after flashing the ROM, I can delete the .zip file from the SD card, right?

It doesn't matter whether you flash the radio or ROM first as long as you flash it. If I had to run one of them I'd probably run MR2, but that's just personal preference. Just make sure you double check the MD5 sum of the radio before flashing it in hboot.

Yes, you can delete the zip after flashing if you'd like. It's not a very big file, though so you may want to hold onto it in case you need to flash it again for some reason

+1 on the MD5 check. I had a ton of issues with a ROM then I check the hash. Bam! Mismatch lol.

In any case, its all personal preference. I'm using Gingerth3ory 1.4.5 (i think that's the newest one) and the MR2.5 radio.

    Enjoy trying them out :)
