I just got my refurb of my palm pre and she was excited about the Evo and I said too bad Tampa has no 4g. She said the clearwire techs are working right now but the reason it was not announced is that their are some endangered birds nests in some of the towers preventing them from doing anything until they naturally leave. She said Wimax should be running in Tampa by the end of the summer.

i actualy know a tower around where i live that has some type of bird living on top. its in the odessa area. so their reasoning makes perfect sense.

huh? if you watch the cnn video they dont put up towers they just add to the existing one.. unless tampa has no 3g which I am doubting but I dunno going by the cnn money video 4g doesnt use any extra towers they basically connect a file cabinet size unit to the existing 3g infrastructure getting it more bandwidth

I never said they were putting up new ones. They can't add to some of the towers because there are birds living in them.

Welcome Tiako. I wouldn't pay any attention. Some people just like to stir things up.

You do know if you scare the birds off the mother bird might leave the babies to die right? Stuff like this happens all the time..

I'm in the tower industry & "bird nesting" happens more than people know. Most times, any work at a tower-whether at the base, half way up or near the top has to wait until the endangered or protected bird is finished nesting. It's frustrating for carriers but they have to wait; it's federal law. I'm psyched though; once 4G in Tampa is launched I'm getting the new HTC thru Sprint.

Amazing - the BB guy told me we'd have 4G by the end of the year and I blew it off as just another BB guy blowing smoke... GREAT!:D

  15. Im in Spring Hill, do they have to do the same to the towers here in order to get 4G, or does that somehow reach distances?
