I have been trying a few different roms and need help with my old ringtones and notifications.

I have them all in a folder on my card and when I install a new rom they are not found by the new rom (now that I think about it its the same for my pictures). Some of them I got from Zedge. So when I install zedge it only finds a few and those I can choose under sounds in system.

Is there a way or an app that can let me specify where they are stored so the system will find them?

Hello, I use rings extended to do this with ringtones and notifications.
Easiest way is create folder in root of your microcard called notifications and put your ringtones and notifications in there. When choosing your tones use the option to search with rings extended and then browse to the folder with all your tones in.

I found es file manager that does the same thing that is now replacing astro file manager.

    Greetings nitramus,

As far as ringtones and notifications go, those should be universal to whichever rom you choose.

On your Sd card, make two folders..

    1. notifications
    2. ringtones

Copy the files for your saved folder, into the folders that they belong..ie

    1. Ringtones into ringtones, and notifications into notifications.

These should now be recognized no matter which rom you use.

I don't usually use Zedge, but in the version 3.1 that I have, there is a option in the menu to recover older downloads. You might try that to see if it works.

    Hope this helps

I tried the folders and the recover download from zedge and none work. I will just stay with es file manager. Thanks

The free version dropbox is ideal for storing surplus ringtones & wallpapers, & you can sync.
