right now the bootloader is locked, so flashing a custom kernel is not goint o happen.... yet

however once your rooted using the z4root method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953 you can download wireless tether from the market free
and to overclock you have 2 main ones that people in this forum use
you have Droid X Overclock http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...clock-app-easy-noob-friendly.html#post1782405
and Overclocker(i think thats what its called)
each one costs i think about $2 and they are both within the market.

if you need anything else feel free to ask, i will edit this post with the links to each one for you

Looks like i need to look at his phone to see if he is Rooted at all. Sorry i have not followed the X. He said he rooted the phone.. So i said hey dont forget Wifi-tether for root users.. Only to find out he dont have a supported Kernel.. So that brought me here.

We will get him fixed up.

Thanks for any help you can give.

That message he gets when he loads Wireless Tether for Root users does not mean the program won't work on his kernel. It simply means there are some extra functions that won't work. But the wireless tether and encryption methods all work. Just set up a WPA wireless network with a strong password and he will be fine.
