I just removed the vibrate when typing setting from the stock keyboard and now the keys are much more responsive. Day and Night. How happy are you guys without it? just wondering.

I turned mine off a while back too. It is much more responsive but I wish it was that way with the feedback.

I turned it off the first 15 minutes that I had it, since it bugged me to no end. I can see which characters I am typing as I type them - I don't need the feedback. That's just me, but the keyboard has always been fine for me.

I turned it off when I first set up the phone. I don't need the feedback when I type. I also use the compact qwerty and it works even smoother.

I turned that off on mine as well. In spare parts it lists heptic feedback...is that something different and should it be turned off or on?

Yeah it seems that everyone's feedback on turning off the vibrate feature is positive in general from what I can read on several different forums.

I also found that my keyboard doesn't lag anymore after I removed my added words to the dictionary.

I must be blind, but I can't find how to turn off the feedback when using the keyboard on 2.1. Anyone?

    ETA: Nevermind, I found it.

I'm still running 1.5 and I had it set to not give haptic feedback when typing for the first few weeks I had the phone. I had trouble typing, though, and the accuracy actually goes up for me with that little haptic vibration, having found that out on my Samsung Instinct.

So I turned it on and got happy, ;) not noticing one bit of lag at all; I hit a character and it is there. I do not understand the keyboard lag problems some are reporting using the leaks and the 1.5 original software.

Wow - what a difference! I never thought of turning it off, bc I wanted the feedback, but it seems that I really don't need it. I'm going to try it for a while.
    Thanks!

Learn something every day. I didn't even know there was a compact. I'll give it a try, looks like my Pearl.

It is really nice. I type faster on that (with predictive text) than I do on a regular desktop keyboard. The only time it is ever a problem is when I type in passwords, but it is an easy switch back and forth.

Tip: In 2.1, go to Settings > Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > User Dictionary and type in your email address, gmail account name, screen name for forums, commonly used words, etc to make typing much much easier. I can type most of my account names in 3 or 4 key strokes now.

I to also turned off the feedback and am using the mini keyboard. I have to big of thumbs to use the full keyboard. Plus like ofthedammed stated. with predictive text is sweeter.

Great tip, thanks. But I was really figuring to get some work done today since the boards are slow. That idea just got shot to sh1t.;)

Anyone know how to remove feedback in Handcent? Love this compact keyboard, much quicker way of doing things.

Edit: Found it, thanks OTD in another thread.
