Who wants to bet these "kickstands" will be breaking off left and right on the EVO. I saw one and it is a great idea except they are going to easily pop opened just a bit sliding into or out of a case or pocket and break off. I ask this only because I wonder if the warranty will cover that part of the phone. IMO have little doubt those little plastic parts are going to cause warranty issues.
i dont find it a problem at all really. at least not for me. i plan or using a silicone case like i have on my hero and ony take it off if im gonna use the kickstand.
Hope it's sturdy. But such a nice, simple addition. I've been on a plane many times propping my iPhone against a paperback book so I could have a decent viewing angle.
*unconfirmed* I read somewhere that there is a magnet in the set to hold the kickstand against the handset when not in use... anyone with hands on confirm ?
Seems the OP is just trolling, here and in other threads. Might want to wait till you have one in your hand before you start worrying.
i think i will use the kick stand at night. im going to use it and set the phone on my night stand kind of like an alarm clock
There is at least one video that makes this evident; one of the hands-on people also confirmed it. The kickstand is definitely held to the device via magnet.
At first I thought that would be weird w/o the landscape mode, but if you are lying down, you could read it perfectly
apple fan boys are gonna be pissed to see a magnet on a machine other than a mac book, and accuse htc of stealing ideas, since apple invented the imagnet ;-)
Why do you assume am I trolling? Because I started this thread and commented in another? I think this question is more useful then the 13 "where will you be sleeping when they release the EVO" or "why is the box so ugly." Besides, had I seen the other thread first I wouldn't have even started this one. Anyway, the one I "touched" sure felt like plastic but I could be wrong. I only had it for like 2 minutes. Maybe it's really manganese subblublimate. I assumed it was plastic also because I would think metal would affect the internal antenna signal. Is the case metal? Why would the case not be metal and the stand be metal? Besides, whether it was metal or plastic wouldn't matter, it's at the hinge where it connects to the case that would be the weak point. My concern is, as my OP stated, is whether the warranty would cover it if it does break.
Don't see this being a big deal as far as being use on a regular for most.I'm sure a case with a kick stand will come out sooner or later with all the size increase foe phones and tablets.
... u know what would be great is if he went to break it and it didnt break lol. everyone thinks its gonna be flimsy but what if its really strong.
I agree, until u hold it, u really won't know! As for cases and the kickstand, I bet they have cut outs for it! That would be awesome cause I hate taking silicone cases off, stretches them off. And has it late I've been seeing a lot of rubber cases, which stay tight much longer.
i doubt one would ever break unless the hulk is opening it. its magnetic, so it wont just pop open and snap.
