Help Kies Error "SGH-I717 does not support initialising"

I have my Samsung Galaxy Note that i recently bought off my friend and i am trying to connect to KIES so i can update the firmware but KIES keeps telling me this. I have no idea what to do
The main reason im trying to do this is because my phone keeps restarting and i think maybe this would help but i cant do it
Is there anyway i can have everything stock on my phone?
Anybody have any solution to this?
My phone keeps rebooting on its on and Kies keeps giving me this errro
I just want my phone as if i were to buy it straight out of the store
I have also done a factory reset on my phone already but still nothing
Please help
EDIT: On the firmware information it also says: Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies"
Does this mean the firmware version is not stock?
Is there a way for me to put it back to normal?
Please let me know

When you had that person flash the stock ICS to your phone, it now says in your system settings 4.0.4 correct? Check to see if it is in fact stock ICS. There are a couple Roms out that are pretty much stock but have been tweaked a bit. If yer phone is truly stock it will say as follows,

Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I717UCLF6
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: IMM76D.UCLF6

If it says anything other than that you have a custom stock Rom and that will account for your Kies error. Should this be the case all you need to do is get the fully stock AT&T Galaxy Note I717 firmware and flash it to your phone using Odin. Here is a link I grabbed to try and make this as easy for you as possible.

I717UCLF6 Original ICS 4.0.4 Stock Firmware Samsung Galaxy Note AT&T SGH-I717 | Android Firmware Updates

If this process doesn't work then as I said in the other thread, you may have a hardware issue such as a bad control board. The only solution to that is having it replaced.

I'm also getting the "does not support initialising" Kies error message and my ROM truly is stock by verifying with the info above. I'm trying to upgrade to 4.1. What are my options?

I did an OTA update and it bumped the baseband version and build number, but it didn't upgrade me to 4.1. Here is what my settings look like now. Is there another step to get to Android 4.1? (thanks)

Android version 4.0.4
Baseband version I717UCMB4
Kernel version 3.0.8
Build number IMM76D.UCMB4

This message means the update failed on the phone. You need to start an emergency firmware recovery on the device. I hope you did regular backups as it may reset the phone back to factory defaults.

Start up KIES in full mode (not light). There should be instructions there for performing an emergency recovery.
