I installed Kies for my new phone with mixed results but now my PC, (Windows XP), is not seeing phone at all.
Initially it saw the phone but several attempts later I had to use the troubleshoot connection but to no avail as the program seemed to just sit there forever telling me that it was reinstalling the driver.
I eventually had to shut it down but the pleasing result was that my PC could see the phone as I wanted to, i.e. not through Kies but just by plugging the USB cable in and connecting like a removable drive.
This was fine for a week but now, when plugging in the USB cable, I get the connection 'bleep' but no USB icon appears at the top of the phone screen and I can no longer communicate between phone and PC again.
I've tried rebooting, uninstalling/reinstalling, USB debugging off and on and all the suggestions for USB drivers but no joy.
Can anyone help ?
All I want to do is load photos from the phone to my PC and vice versa.

Firstly, Kies is a crappy software don't use it, just let it stay in the pc so that it can provide drivers for the phone. Use the mass storage mode to connect and use the phone like a portable memory drive.

Secondly, this phone has some compatibility issues with win xp, i use xp too, never been able to connect it properly, keeps disconnecting every few minutes.
Use some card reader or another phone as a card reader to transfer data from and to the sd card.

MY phone GT- S7562 is not able to connect on WIFI. WHen i try it indicates that is turning on but never finalizes.

Help

I run a dual boot WinXP and Win7 and can connect my S5830i via USB to both.I don't use Kies.

Backup your PC first.I use easeUS ToDo free software,
EaseUS Todo Backup software for data backup and disaster recovery in Windows Server/Workstation/PC
and also make a bootable flash drive restore stick with it just in case.

Then find this file by Internet search.
msicuu2.exe
which is the old MS driver un-installer or use MS on-line help to remove old drivers.

Then download the Samsung WinXP usb driver,

SAMSUNG USB Drivers for Mobile Phones v1.5.16.0

Remove Kies and run the driver un-installer and then a registry cleaner.I use Auslogics free cleaner,

Best Free PC Registry Cleaner Software Download. Fix Errors Now!

Now install the Samsung USB driver. You may have to reboot at some point but now you should be able to connect the phone as a portable hard drive and just drag and drop or copy and paste files as you like.I also use a free Windows Explorer replacement called 2X explorer

2xExplorer home

as it uses a dual pane system, among other things, which makes it easy manipulate files.

HTH :)

Note:It took me several months to find and come up with this fix which was originally to get my Bluetooth drivers working between my Win7/WinXp laptop and my Samsung Galaxy Ace.

As a lot of people have read this post I just want to make a correction/addition.You,"Must" disable any anti-virus software before installing your Bluetooth Drivers after running the,"Installer Cleaner".

HTH :)
