Kies wont recognise Galaxy Y

Hi all,

I have the Galaxy Y GT-S5360T Android Version 2.3.6, Gingerbread.AJKK3.

I am using a Macbook pro 17" latest model.
No matter what i do when i plug my Y in, kies just says "Connecting.." and does nothing else. It never finds the phone. If i change my phone into USB mode, everything works fine, just kies wont ever find the phone.
ANy help is appreciated!

i do not know exactly but i do remember it got connected to my MBP (10.7.4) after a restart of device+mac after a really long time ...
