    Anyone else having this issue?
Since the KitKat update, the speaker is really quiet. Phone still rings fine, but any apps - alarms, VoIP ringing, playing music - are all really quiet.

    I've checked settings>sound and it's all maxed.

Restarting the phone seams to resolve the issue for a while, but then it starts up again.

    Any ideas?

Try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them) and if the problem stops it was caused by an app that you added.

Push the vol down button while in a call. That should fix it. Yes, down, not up.
