    Long story short......
Updated to kitkat on my razr hd max and razr m. Both had bad signal after update to kitkat. Had a speaker issue on my hd max so verizon sent me a replacement phone. It was NOT on kitkat yet. I ran it for a week and had great signal. Then updated to kitkat after it kept asking me. And imediatly had bad signal. We cant even make phone calls or receive them. very frustrating! After a minute or less into the calls we loose signal even if it says 2 bars 4g.
Called verizon and they said its just my area i live in being marginal because i live 3 miles from the nearest tower. And they said kit kat has nothing to do with it. Nobody else reported issues with signal after the update.
I always had full 4g at work also. Now i only have 3 bars sometimes 4. And this is 75 miles from home. And here at work im less than a 1/4 mile from a tower.
    Any ideas or similar problems?

  2. You didn't say ... did you do Factory Data Resets after the upgrades?

No I don't know if it will solve your issues.

    i have tried everything.
Finally! Just got off the phone with verizon. They transferred me to somone higher up i guess that says the opposite of all the monkeys ive been talking to. She said to expect a patch they are pushing out right now. Supposedly the s5 phones are currently getting it. The razr max hd she said should get it in about a month. Its a patch for kitkat that fixes 71 issues.(signal being one of them) She said in her 20 some years kitkat has had the most issues rolling out than any other she has seen.
So hopefully in a month or less ill get the patch. waiting...........

Which is why I got a replacement phone that has JB and I keep refusing the KK update every 12 hours. But that is a minor annoyance compared to losing radio and Wi-Fi signals with KK.

My bet too though is it fixes the security hole allowing rooting of the phone.

That it does as well as patches the bootloader unlock exploit as well. It includes 4.4.4 security patches (which wipes out Towelroot exploit), but it also fixes the FakeID exploit as well.

Anyone know if the upcoming patch will fix the bluetooth range issues as well? There's a thread about it in the Note 2 section.

The latest OTA is being pushed out now to everyone. Some people are still experiencing Wifi and Bluetooth issues, but this is it. No more updates.

As for battery life, my battery life is pretty much the same as it was under JB.

You do have to remember that with KitKat, the API has changed and apps that worked fine under JB might behave badly (i.e. suck more battery life) if they are not written properly against the KK kernel/API. In fact, a lot of times, these poorly written apps are still doing something they shouldn't under JB, but it didn't affect the battery life due to how it interacts with the OS.

Every android developer should always go back, recompile their app under the latest android version to ensure it still performs correctly under the new version and make any repairs if it doesn't. Just because it compiles and runs under the new version doesn't mean it was written correctly. It could still run, but perform its operations inefficiently which can then mean poor battery life.

So far, all the apps I run seem to not cause this issue, but that can explain poor battery life if it still persists after an FDR. I can get about 36 hours on one charge which leaves about 15% left on my battery. This is with normal usage (texting, email, phone calls). Of course, streaming videos and playing games will definitely affect your battery, but I'm assuming most people are having issues with just normal usage (no gaming, etc).

I would suggest doing an FDR, and then run only the stock apps at first to see if the battery life is good or bad. If it's bad, then the battery itself is possibly going bad.

If after running on stock apps, everything seems fine, then start adding your apps and monitor what happens. More than likely, you have a poorly written app that is sucking the life out of your battery.

Overall, an upgrade from JB to KK is a major upgrade and older apps may not perform as effectively as they did before, and that is usually because they are already doing operations poorly, but it just didn't affect the battery under the older OS.

Im not sure what you are saying here...
Are you saying the rest of the patch are now coming out?
And your reporting your experience after the patch?

    Sorry, it was long-winded.

I was part of the soak. The latest patch for the OTA that was released a few months ago is coming out and being pushed to the public. Per the forum manager on the private soak test forums, this is the final OTA for this phone. No more after this so whatever issues remain, they will remain.

Some have still stated they are having WiFi signal issues, but from what I understand, that is a firmware issue. It would nice if they would fix this issue and push out a new firmware update, but I doubt that will happen.

Battery issues are something I didn't have an issue with. I was trying to explain why some might see a battery issue; misbehaving apps that aren't programmed correctly against the new KK api, or it's a failing battery.

They send it out in batches, so you may not have received it yet.

That, or I misunderstood the person that was talking about getting the patch, but he did say he was upgraded to 183.46.15, which is the patch to the latest soak test, so I had assumed that meant he was part of the soak and it was getting pushed out. He might have just gotten it from someone else and didn't get it pushed to his phone from Moto/Verizon.

Have not seen a lot of people posting they have the patch so maybe it is a bit delayed.

Well it has been over 1 month since the OP and still no patch. I have not had a signal issue but can tell you the with my Nexus 10, going to 4.2 and 4.3 continued battery issues but going to 4.4 cured the battery issues there. With the tablet I went down to 2-3 days before a charge back to 10 days or more without charging.

Not sure what it will do yet but it just downloaded.

Edit; on my xt926 I am now 183.46.15.xt926 and still 4.4.2, now to charge the battery to see if this helps at all.

How did you get the patch? OTA? Did the notification just appear? I have a Note 2 and still having bluetooth range and battery issues due to the 4.2.2 update. Thanks.

It is OTA, I just went to about and then checked for updates. I can tell you where I used to get 24 mb connection I now seem to get 65 mb on wifi.

My daughter does not have it either yet. It just may take a few days for everyone to get it available to them. Remember the battery I think needs to be above 50% or on AC to see an update.

I can tell you that if you have root access before the patch you will afterwards. I think once accepted root is not possible.
