I had the issues and returned my Cappy i bought at launch . New one is a speed demon , no issues .

Give it a return , you have 30 days , they wont even bother with questions

I'm having the same issues with mine and it's really pissing me off. I upgraded from an iPhone 3G so I'm used to phones not responding fast enough, but I definitely didn't expect it from this phone. If I swap it at the store for a new one, is there some specific phone identifier to look for ? Or am I just going to have to hope that the new one won't have the same problems ?

my phone was laggy and choppy especially with twitter and browser, what i did was did the speed fix, but you have to root your phone for that so returning phone may be your best option

Mine was laggy when I first got it, but I followed the Pimp your Captivate guide and now it flies. I still notice though that the stock launched lags compared to launcherPro so if you are not wanting to root, think about getting that launched installed to speed things up as well.

since the captivate puts all data on internal sd, then getting a new one wont help. Its not like a new one puts it somewhere else all a sudden, commen sense. Either get another phone completely or stick with it and hope damn samsung fixes it like i am.

Exchanged for a new phone today, not choppy yet but same crappy battery issues, seriously thinking of taking back again and demanding an iphone4

from what i heard you have to doing a few full from 0% to get the battery to normalize to sort of speak.

ummm im pretty sure youve heard of draining the battery 3 or 4 full times before you see any improvement correct? these batterys have to be broken in, but if you want it get the i4, just dont drop it unless you want a shattered phone
