Did you Wipe cache Partition (deleting all temporary data and not touching any data or settings that you made) where temporary data is stored? It can become corrupted over time and really slow down the activity of starting something.

I did clean the cache partition from inside a program called Easy Cache Cleaner
Pro and not the recovery screen because it gives me an error and restarts the
phone without cleaning the partition cache.
If it was me ... I would focus on solving the problem of not being able to wipe the cache from recovery. That is an indication f something that is messed up.
I have yet to find a definitive answer on the comparison of various cache cleaner apps vs. a wipe cache partition.
Has it always been laggy, or recently started doing it? Bare in mind the Ace 3 is quite a low-specced budget phone, 1GB RAM, dual-core 1GHz CPU. Could just be laggy anyway, especially as it's got Samsung's bloated Touchwiz on it.
