It made it two years before it started lagging, that's FANTASTIC!

I usually recommend doing this about every 3 months if you are not having any issues, if it starts lagging or burning through battery, try it as a first step. It is non-destructive to user data, but does take some time (it will seem like it isn't doing anything for a while, sometimes 15+ minutes, but have patience, don't force it to stop or reboot during the process).
