My tab is on 4.1.2 just got it from ATT. Whats the latest I can run?
Is it woth the upgrade in your opinion?
I have one through AT&T and I don't think they have the 4.2.2 update out yet. From what other people have said, they've had a lot of problems with the update.
I have yhe 4.2.2 update and honestly have not had any problems at all, but am aware of others complaints. I never used 4.1 so could not tell you if the update is worth it or not.
4.2.2 received a small (68mb) update to all versions early last week. That stopped the problem of not shutting down (in most reported cases this was the issue) as well as the boot loop. The buttons remain in the middle and for me important, no longer reverts back from whatever keyboard app you use, back to std Samsung keyboard.
Use wise is an improvement over 4.0.4 which was my stock. But not really over 4.1.2
That update also added the apps on sd card menu to the application manager menu and fixed the lag in the notification window.
Is there a way to force a update? I am on att with my tab? Never manually tryed to upgrade before with Android?
Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update
Samsung just pushed out a fix for the shutdown problem everyone was having with the 4.2.2 update.
I have 4.2.2 and have been messing around trying to get the latest update. Tried OTA and KIES several times. Doesn't want to take.
mine's been an infestation of cockroaches since the update. it often has issues connecting to apps, Samsung Apps freezes the entire UI, and it gets very laggy for no apparent reason. sometimes i have to force reboot it five or six times. i would stick with 4.1.2. but the 'latest' it can run depends on whether you're rooted, or would prefer to live without TouchWiz. i managed to get KitKat (Android version 4.4.2) to run on it one time. the most common bug with 4.2.2 right now is when you load an app (say, YouTube or Play Store) and it instantly claims no internet connection, and you have to back out to home, open settings, clear data and force stop, and open it again, when it would then work fine. seems a lot of unnecessary extra steps for no reason. i'm also not a fan of the uber-white settings and toggles menus. my phone has 4.3 and stayed with the nicer inverted color scheme, and i would just revert my Tab 2 back to 4.1.2 if XDA had a pre-rooted ROM, but currently you'd have to do the long, awful process of unrooting it, going into ODIN or Kies, and do it the hard way. the only ROMs on XDA regarding stock are all 4.2.2. sucks. i'd wipe and revert in an instant to get my stability back
Might give it some time, I know its not a major update but they might be pushing it out in phases. Just keep trying.
No. There are a lot of lags appear after update from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2.
Notification bar became split into 2 parts: notifications (looks ugly, at top of screen) and bottom bar (with home, bar and apps buttons). Screenshot buttons disappear.
Apps (even build-in) start slowly with animation lag and responsiveness got worse
Get cm10 lateststable build it much better than latest samsung update loads quicker and smoother..
Thank you! CM brings great performance - no animation lags! But font.. Very pixelized chars
Also try ram manager pro im getting goodresults with it
I don't like any ram managers. They are evil and often can be root of problems related with battery lifetime and system performance in overall.
thequeenscheese, have you any suggestions about font fix? How to make it more smoothly?
You cojld try a cache manager or task manager there are font optiins somewbere ive seen them but i dont have an issue with them mine are crisp and clear.
Ram manager pro js very good even if you only use the swap disk feature utilising the sd card to get a bit extra im not noticing a battery loss yet since iv had jt installed..
Just looked its for font size mines on normal if that helps, which font are you refering to?
