Does the newest version of BB disable LED notifications? If so, how do I turn them back on? I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how or why none of my LED notifications are no longer working.

I'm running the current version of BB, used ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme.

    Any ideas?

Because you have your screen turned on.

This is the behavior of 2.1. It disables LED notifications with the screen on because it is redundant.

The only 2.1 ROM I know of that allows LED notifications while the screen is on is Koush's CyanogenMod, which has an option to force it.

That's pretty clever, something I hadn't noticed before but I duplicated it on my Droid. Wow, I learn something new every day

I hated when the led flashed while the screen was on. I, often, would be reading a book or something via aldiko. Well, every time I got a new email, text, or whatever, the light would start flashing. It would annoy the heck out of me, so I would have to stop reading and go acknowlege the email etc..

Actually, IIRC, UD7.x also has that option - and I think that most of the 2.1 ESE53-based ROMs do, but since it is worded as 'trackball' most people ignore it since the DROID does not have a trackball.

I am flashing to CM5.0.4.3 tonight anyway, so a Nandroid backup and restoring of UD won't take me that long, and I can verify my surmise.

I'm running the new bugless beast V1.0 with the kernels Pete recommended and I noticed that when my screen is off, my notification led doesn't light up anymore. Do you know if this is normal for bugless beast v1.0? Please advise.

Mine light up for SMS and Gmail...so definitely not normal.

Did you wipe before you installed?

Yes Fab, I've wiped both the data and cache three times each. Though that may have been extreme, I wanted to make sure everything was cleared.

Working great with the 1.2 ghz, though it worked fine with the 1 ghz too.

Did you do the mms and email fix that Pete posted? Also, try running the fixperm script.

I'm very new to running scripts, the most that I done was install Android SDK to remove maps.google.apk from my last ROM that was causing issues. I don't even know what application to use nor the coding to actually execute it. I've been scanning Pete's thread at all droid and I haven't seen anything regarding a mms and email fix, but let me look again. If you could link me to that direct page, that would be great.

    EDIT
Found the fix, hopefully it will work.

I'm having the same issue. Running BB 1.0, 1.2GHz - wiped. LED will only work when battery level triggers the red LED. At no other times will the LED turn on (screen on/off, etc). Worked fine in 2.01.

Found a fix. You need to download "nexus trackball switcher" from the market, run it, and click enable trackball.

working like a charm now, thank god.
