Does anyone have this annoying LED bleed right around the port for the charger while charging? This is my first day with the droid and I'm wondering if I have to throw a towel on it while it charges all night....

You're speaking of the charging indicator. Everyone has it. It is designed that way.

You can turn the phone around the other direction if it's too bright.

And it won't be on all night, it turns off once the phone is charged.

Yes, that's the 'Charging' indicator. It turns off once your phone is charged.

I've been wondering about this as well. I've seen a lot of posts about the fact that the charging light is irritating. I'm not trying to be rude, but how is it irritating? Usually when I'm trying to sleep, my eyes are closed. It certainly doesn't create enough ambient light to be a distraction. I usually have more light coming through my windows at night than that thing can put out.

The charging LED is ridiculously dim ... it was the light omitting from the 4 soft buttons that stay illuminated in the dock that bothered me. I say "was" because I found a work-around. You can read about that here in this post. Been working for two weeks now, without fail.

Maybe my room is unnaturally dark, or maybe I have hyper sensitive eyes, but it doesn

lol. my room is a tomb at night. I like it that way. Oh well. I can live with it.

One question. I tried turning off my phone while charging it. I powered off, plugged in the charger, and it turned on by itself. It did this a few times. Is this normal??

I think so. I haven't tried it personally, but I've heard that the phone doesn't charge when it's off, or something to that effect.

After plugging my wall charger into the Droid at bedtime sometimes the charging light blinks (and the screen comes on). The green indicator light on the charger also goes on and off at the same time. Do I have a problem, or am I worrying about nothing? Thanks for help.

I just use LED Hacks for this. It automatically disables/enables and LEDs you want (besides the charging LED on the micro USB port) when you dock/undock your Droid. Or you can manually turn them on/off via a widget if you don't use a dock. You just have to be rooted.
